Wait for the LORD

By Tim Severance, Associate Minister “Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.” – Psalm 27:14 “I wait for the LORD, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope.” – Psalm 130:5“Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for Him.” – Psalm 37:7 Bella waits late into the night. Our family dog, Bella, doesn’t usually come into the house until everyone in the family is home and inside. She’s been known to stay How COVID has affected us

Squirrels on Course

I am amazed at how squirrels are creatures of habit. As I write this I have a squirrel outside my window eating all of the bird feed my wife put out for the, well, birds. And he/she cleaned it right out.

Take a Deep Breath

By Sara Blasko, Children’s Ministry Director Have you ever been helping someone lift something REALLY heavy and then all of the sudden realized that you aren’t actually doing anything and that they have taken the brunt of the weight? Growing up with no brothers and two little sisters and a dad that always had a million projects going, I was asked to help with a lot. Several times during construction projects, my dad would ask for help carrying a heavy How COVID has affected us

Masking the Struggle

There are many more questions out there than there are answers. And who do we listen to?A politician says one thing and a medical professional says another. Listen to ABC news and feel like this sickness may never end or listen to Fox news and feel like it’s back to business as usual.  We live in confusing times today. This pandemic has up-ended the world like never in our lifetimes. Unemployment has skyrocketed. The stock market is volatile with lower lows and higher highs. How COVID has affected us

To Open or Not Open; that is the question

By Andy Bratton, Senior Minister As we approach our 10th online worship service this Sunday, I think I speak for everyone when I say, “I want to go back to church!!!”  I miss my church family.  I miss seeing everyone’s faces.  I miss singing together.  I miss being on stage and knowing who is there and who is not by looking where you always sit.  I miss Fuzzy’s war stories.  I miss warm handshakes and hugs.  I miss being tackled How COVID has affected us
Giving at Kalkaska Church of Christ

Donations to KCC

A question came up recently regarding giving to the church, “Sunday, Andy mentioned one of the online tithing methods was fee free to KCC. Which way is that? I want to make sure the way I do it is fee-free if possible.” Our response: Well, he was close to accurate. The way to give he mentioned is using ACH (i.e. connected bank account like checking). It isn’t free but it is only .25 each transaction. There is no percentage fee. How COVID has affected us

Here we go (again)!

As we begin a new phase in the life of KCC through modifying the building, I came across a blog that Joyce Tugan did a great job of putting together. It was entitled “Here We Go” and it detailed the progress of construction for the current building we now meet in. There are some great photos, videos, and details of what went into 1725 W. Kalkaska Rd! Check it out. http://herewego.kccwired.com

Lower Level Improvements Begin

One Step Forward By Andy Bratton, Senior Minister Things are getting ready to happen with our lower level construction project and I wanted to bring everyone up to speed on the why and what of the happenings. When I arrived in 2015 I had a weekend getaway with the Elders to discuss the current health of the church and to create a strategy going forward. When I started here at KCC, what was fresh in people’s minds was a horrific How COVID has affected us
Blog post on balance

Balance

By David Acker, Youth Minister bal·ance:  a condition in which different elements are equal or in the correct proportions. It’s a new year, it’s time for a new you. We have heard it before and perhaps some of us have been saying it. Magically hoping that this year will be the year that we find pace, balance, and time to achieve the things that we have been putting off. The change of the calendar reminds us to reprioritize our time, How COVID has affected us
