Family

Family By Sara Blasko, Children’s Ministry Director When you ask people what they are most thankful for at Thanksgiving, the overwhelming response is Family. When you ask people what they are the most stressed about over Thanksgiving, many will say the same thing…Family! Family dysfunction has been around since the very first family…Cain and Able aren’t exactly the best examples of brotherly love. So how do you ensure that you can have a peaceful and enjoyable holiday season with your How COVID has affected us

Did He or Didn’t He?

by Andy Bratton, Senior Minister Last week the big story was about Judge Kavanaugh and whether or not he would be put before the Senate to be confirmed as our next Supreme Court Justice.  As you probably know the big question was whether or not an accuser’s story about him sexually assaulting her was true or not. I just spent several minutes on Facebook (I admit it) and saw several people make comments about the Judge and whether or not he How COVID has affected us

Stay in Your Lane

by Sara Blasko I have a goofy sense of humor. Like seriously goofy. Some of the things in life that I find hilarious are when my GPS tells me “you have arrived”.  I always smile and say “thank you!” like I have accomplished some great milestone in life. Driving around in northern Michigan in the summer you can’t help but notice all of the road construction. It is a blessing and a curse. We need the roads to be repaired, How COVID has affected us

The Lion of Judah

By David Acker, Youth Minister “I don’t need to do that.” My heart has said at times. I shake my head to rattle out memories at times. I go for a walk in the woods, and try to have a squawk of a hawk or the crashing waves of the ocean drown out my thoughts but quiet pervades this me. I am having another innate struggle with God. It is a naturally quiet moment with no one else in sight. How COVID has affected us

New Sermon Series – Epic!

Join us Sunday as we launch a new series called, “Epic,” as we walk through the book of Revelation. I am looking forward to it and hope you are as well. On an unrelated note, thank you to those who helped us feed the teachers on Thursday before school started. We were able to host them for an in-service training. And thank you to all of those who helped provide food for Dan Groner’s Memorial Service out at the camp. How COVID has affected us

Simple Systems

by Andy Bratton, Senior Minister I have the privilege on sitting on the board for an organization called NCCE (New Churches of Christ Evangelism).  The purpose of the group is to plant churches in Michigan. Over the past few years there have been new churches planted in Fruitport (south of Muskegon), Saginaw (on the campus of SVSU), and Ubley (a very tiny town in the thumb).  If you are ever in those areas for a Sunday, check them out. Anyway, How COVID has affected us

When You Don’t Feel Like Praying

By David Acker, Youth Minister Remember hide and seek? I loved that game. I was always so good at hiding. In fact, I still am. I hide very well. But now I can hide how I am doing very well. I can hide the times I don’t feel like praying. I am a pastor, so obviously, my prayers mean more and I pray more often then others (insert a loud “no way” here.) If I am being honest sometimes my How COVID has affected us

Stuff the Bus

KCC is partnering with “Communities in Schools” to have a school supply drive for kids in the community. We would like to have these materials available to anyone who may need them. Items needed are: New pencils Erasers Pens Notebooks Crayons Markers Scissors Glue Kleenex Backpacks Socks Underwear Shoe Please bring your donations back to the church lobby “bus” by Sunday, August 26.

Jumping Into The Cage

by David Acker, KCC Youth Minister I’ve watched Shark Week on the Discovery channel since I was in high school. I have always enjoyed it and been so intrigued by great white sharks. One of the episodes this year included Shaquille O’Neal overcoming his fear and swimming with sharks. They had to sew about four wetsuits together and make a custom cage to make this happen for this legendary NBA center. A lot of these shows seem to be pressing How COVID has affected us

Escape from Port-au-Prince

The Kalkaska Church of Christ has constructed their very own Escape Room. The idea came up as an evening activity for High School campers attending Wilderness Christian Assembly.  Three groups of campers came through it Monday evening and had a blast! This week the Escape room is open to anyone who wants to register at the church website and go through it. Donations are welcome for a 2018 mission trip to Haiti. Ironically, the title of the escape room is “Escape How COVID has affected us
