Trunk or Treat Returns to KCC!

Trunk or Treat Returns to KCC!

We’re excited to announce the return of Trunk or Treat to the campus of the Kalkaska Church of Christ! Kids from the community are invited to come dressed in costume to the lower level of KCC on Saturday, October 31st to trick or treat beginning at 5:00 pm.

Parents are asked to park in the upper level, then walk down to the lower level parking lot where church members will be passing out candy from their vehicle trunks.

There will be inflatables set up in the lower level yard for all to enjoy. Refreshments will be available free of charge to adults bringing children.

Kids can also enjoy a black light puppet show inside the church building. Show times will be posted at Trunk or Treat.

Kalkaska Trunk or Treat originated at the Kalkaska Church of Christ while at it’s former 5th street location. It began in 2002 when the church opened it’s back door to pass out candy. Over a dozen bowls of candy were ready to give away, yet no trick-or-treaters came to the church house.

The 2nd year people dressed as Veggie Tale characters danced outside the church to attract young people to trick or treat. Still, very few children came knocking.

Finally, in the third year, KCC adopted a method already being used successfully by other churches around the country – members of the church would park their cars in the parking lot and pass out candy from their trunks – and so Kalkaska truck or treat was born.

KCC hosted Trunk or Treat 7 years in a row until moving into their new building on Kalkaska Road in 2011. During the interim, the Kalkaska Funeral Home hosted the annual community event.
